Descripción: About the AuthorWho would have thought Ruth Wielockx was going to be a writer and illustrator of children’s books? She herself least of all! She studied Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Leuven and Southampton. She also got a degree in teaching and worked as a teacher for a while. When she spent a year in the United States in 2000, because of the work of her husband, she started to look for something to occupy herself. She took a course in aquarelle at the local arts academy. Ruth found out she really liked drawing and painting. This discovery in combination with the fact that she had always loved books, made her start to think about her own children’s book. Still years of doubt followed, but when you see the amount of books she has made and the reputation she has won, it is unbelievable she would have been doing something else than writing and illustrating children’s books."The final line, "What would you put in your suitcase?" invites lively discussion….children curious about what might go inside bags and luggage will get an eyeful.” - Kirkus Reviews"Wielockx's detailed paintings will intrigue mechanically inclined readers while generating a just-competitive-enough sense of fun." - PUBLISHERS WEEKLYHorse, Cat, Piggy and the other animals all have important jobs to do. With the bonus of a flowing story and questions asked of readers, such as “What would you put in your suitcase?” Ruth Wielockx’s colorful book is fun for curious preschoolers." - Lee Littlewood, Kids’ Home Library (nationally syndicated review column) These characters are adorable, and look so soft you want to run your finger across the pages. Children will find it easy to guess which one each suitcase belongs to based on matching outfits. Predicting each one's profession (named on the following page) based on the suitcase's contents can lead to discussions about different jobs and tools....a fun one-on-one book for laptime with your own child or grandchild.....[And] a perfect gift for a child's first sleepover! -- A Mom's Spare Time"Delightful illustrations and a simple clear interactive story with lots of choices for children to make; colours, symbols, objects, animals and professions to identify and discuss. Cleverly designed for a range of levels and understanding and a useful developmental tool.” - Julia Thum"There's an opportunity to talk to readers about what they would pack in an overnight bag for a sleepover; use that as a chance to talk about what goes in your bag when you go on vacation; what goes in Mom's or Dad's bag, and what different people in careers may have in their bags. What about what goes in a diaper bag? (Eww! Not stinky diapers, I hope!) A fun addition to toddler and preschooler bookshelves and a chance to talk about different careers.” - Rosemary Kiladitis, LIBRARIAN“Cute….This book would definitely engage young children and help them with vocabulary, observation and teach them a bit about some careers. A great book for a pre-school or kindergarten classroom as well as a home library where there are young children.” - Carla Johnson-Hicks, educator“Engaging….s
